Complementary Expertise

Pure Extracts Company was founded by two directors whose combined backgrounds in medicine, botanical research, viticulture and commercial development provide the foundation for the company's specialist activities.

One director is a medical practitioner with extensive clinical experience and a longstanding interest in nutrition, preventative health and medicinal plants. This background has directed her study of plant phytochemistry, traditional botanical applications and contemporary scientific research. Her work extends to the large-scale cultivation of selected Australian native plants, providing practical experience in propagation, harvesting and the preparation of botanical materials.

The second director brings extensive experience in business, marketing and commercial development, underpinned by generations of family involvement in grape cultivation and winemaking. Drawing on this heritage, together with his own experience operating a vineyard and winery in South Australia's Barossa Valley, he has developed wine brands and acquired extensive practical knowledge of viticulture, grape processing and natural extraction techniques. His understanding of the importance of preserving the inherent properties of plant materials provides a valuable foundation for the company's work with grape-derived preparations and other botanical sources.

Together, their complementary expertise combines contemporary scientific knowledge with established cultivation and extraction practices.

Development and Quality

Our approach to botanical extraction begins with an understanding of the original plant material, its naturally occurring compounds and the methods most appropriate for their extraction.

We favour gentle extraction techniques designed to retain a broad range of compounds of interest, including polyphenols and other bioactive constituents. Attention is given to raw material selection to produce high-quality extracts that retain the distinctive phytochemical characteristics of their botanical origins.

Our Specialist Focus

Red Wine Grape Extracts: The production of resveratrol-rich preparations from selected red wine grapes grown in South Australia's Barossa Valley, with particular attention to naturally occurring polyphenols and their potential applications.

Australian Native Plant Extracts: The cultivation and extraction of selected Australian botanical species, including Eremophila alternifolia and Eremophila longifolia, recognised for their distinctive phytochemical profiles and continuing scientific interest.
